This is one way the PDQ Flyers have fun!

PDQ Flyers is a model aircraft club with about 75 members. We are located on the east coast of Vancouver Island in Beautiful British Columbia, Canada . We draw members from cities all over Vancouver Island. You will find many of these members spending any nice day at our field near Nanoose Bay.

Mission Statement

The PDQ Flyers (Parksville District and Qualicum Flyers) is a non profit society operating as a charter member of M.A.A.C.
( Model Aeronautics Association of Canada).
Our club is committed to the enjoyment, advancement, and promotion of model aviation in all its forms by way of the camaraderie and common interest of its members.

We host many flight events for both members and guest flyers. Spectators and flyers can watch the events and have a hotdog or two. We welcome anyone to come and watch/participate in any of our club events.

PDQ Flyers encourages any interested new flyers to come out to the field, see what we are all about and meet our members. Our field and all members are MAAC certified; all flyers must have a valid MAAC membership and a PDQ Flyers membership in order to fly on the site. MAAC is our national organization for model aviation. A MAAC membership provides you with liability insurance and a bi-monthly magazine.

Membership Fees

PDQ Flyers is a non profit organization. We require each member to pay annual dues of $75. Annual dues for junior members (under 18 years of age) is $25. New members must also pay a one time initiation fee of $50 (none for Junior members). Before you can get your membership renewed, or join for the year, you must provide proof that you have MAAC insurance for the registration year. Once you have paid dues, and provided proof of insurance, you will be given a club membership card. PDQ Flyers requires a copy of your membership card, along with MAAC insurance card, to be displayed with your frequency pin on the frequency board.

You can print the 2010 Membership Application, fill it out, and present it, or mail it, along with proof of MAAC membership for 2010 and the membership fees, to the treasurer.

Monthly Meetings

Get information about our monthly meetings here.

Training

We have a training program to teach any interested flyer the necessary skills needed to successfully fly either Glow or Electric powered R/C Planes. The club also has two R/C Heli instructors. There are often used trainer planes & equipment for sale, from other members, posted in our Forums to assist in providing economical equipment for new flyers.

After a full day of flying many members meet in a coffee wind down at the A&W Restaurant in Parksville.
