"Buddy Box" training aid.
TRAINING
PDQ Flyers has a free training program to assist beginners in becoming an r/c pilot. You will be introduced to our club, our airfield, safety rules and r/c field etiquette. From time to time ground school instruction (not mandatory) is provided. To protect the safety of people and property, all novice pilots must fly with one our volunteer instructors.
Our club has a number of experienced members that are qualified to instruct a novice pilot. An instructor will inspect your aircraft and radio equipment for flightworthiness and to assist you in starting it safely.
You have spent a lot of time and money on your model. It would really discourage you from the hobby if something happened to it as a result of inexperience. We use a "Buddy Box" system to instruct. Both you and the instructor will have a radio that can control your model. For a $50.00 refundable deposit the club will provide you with a buddy box. At the end of your training, return the buddy box in good condition and your deposit will be returned.
After your instructor feels confident enough that you can fly on your own, you will take a basic flight test and will receive your wings. Congratulations!
